Friends of heart a fund of the West TN Healthcare Foundation donated a lifesaving AED to Medina Middle School on Tuesday September 21, 2021, at 10:00 am. AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are used to help people who are experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, by delivering electrical shocks to re-establish the heart’s rhythm. AEDs are the only way to restore a regular heart rhythm to victims of sudden cardiac arrest, and quick deployment of an AED often makes the difference when a life is on the line.
Heath Moore Football Coach alongside Lane Collins Principal accepted the AED from Tracy Case Executive Director of Friends of Heart a local non-profit. The AED will provide peace of mind knowing they have this life- saving equipment on the sidelines of sporting events. Medina Middle has approximately 200 student athletes and that makes for a large attendance at sporting events. Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death among student athletes and Medina Middle School is being proactive in their attempt to make the sporting events a safer environment for all that attend!
